Iodine catalyzed Friedel-Crafts Benzylation of 2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(1H-indol-3-yl)-ethanol with Substituted Anilines

Abstract:Eight novel 3-substituted indole derived anilines were firstly synthesized by Friedel-Crafts benzylation of 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(1H-indol-3-yl)-ethanol with substituted anilines using iodine as the efficient catalyst. The yields were 65%~98%. The structures were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMRand HR-ESI-MS.
