Study of Adsorption Behavior for The Removal of Methylene Blue in Water by Renewable Cellulose/Cyclodextrin Polymer" />
Abstract:Renewable cellulose/cyclodextrin polymer (SUG-EPI-CDP) adsorbent was successfully prepared by extracting cellulose from bagasse to modify cyclodextrin polymer. The material was characterized by Fourier infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), and the adsorption characteristics and mechanism of methylene blue (MB) on water were investigated. The results showed that under pH 7 and 30 ℃, the removal rate of MB could reach 80.9% within 120 min by SUG-EPI-CDP. The model fitting shows that the adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic, which is fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation and Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity of SUG-EDI-CDP is 8.1 mg/g, which is much higher than that of other adsorbents prepared from waste. The results show that the adsorption capacity of cyclodextrin polymer can be improved effectively by using renewable cellulose, and a new way is provided for bagasse resource utilization.
