Abstract:A novel ligand, 7-{[2-(8-Hydroxyquinolin-7-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole-1-yl]methyl}quinolin-8-ol(H2L), was synthesized by condensation reaction of 8-hydroxyquinoline-7-carbaldehyde with o-phenylenediamine. Two novel metal complexes, ZnL·H2O(1)and Al2L3·3H2O(2), were synthesized by coordination reaction of H2L with Ac2Zn·2H2O and AlCl3·6H2O, respectively. The structures and properties were characterized by UV-Vis, 1H NMR, IR, elemental analysis and FL. λem of 1and 2 were 514 nm(λex=400 nm) and 525 nm(λex=401 nm), respectively.
